Kai is now 30 months old. 99 cm and 14 kg. Too thin for his age and height but actually he keeps eating during the day. Just that every time he eats a little and then goes for another activity. Now it is early summer here, the flowers in grandparents’ gardens are blooming. He loves watering them. He speaks all the time when he is awake. While he is playing or watering the flowers, he keeps telling what he is doing in German. When I am with him, he keeps pointing to different things and asking me “what is this?” in Chinese. Oh yes he can speak Mandarin words perfectly, with accurate tons. He also starts to build complex sentences in Chinese, all by himself. Thanks to the simple and logic Chinese grammar, he hardly makes any mistake when he follows my example and builds his own. Grandma has taught him German sentences too. They go to grocery together almost everyday. Kai always read out the price tags loudly and then comment whether he thinks it is expensive or cheap. This always amuses the whole store and the sellers could not help laughing and giving him some small gifts to eat. I am very happy about his talkativeness and his clear, crisp and lovely voice. He is such a sweetie.
One day we wanted to bath him and he was not in the mood. He turned off the water tap and said “Ausmachen ausmachen, Wasser ist zu teuer!” (Turn off, turn off, water is too expensive!) Ha, since when he has learnt to argue with reason?
His favourite activity is pulling out all toys from closet, then put then in rows on floor and then put them back to closets. When he is tired or in bad mood, he throws things around. Dad has created a lot of interesting machines for him. A machine that blows bubbles automatically, a circuit board and oscilloscope wired together, the circuit can be changed to make different sounds and different shapes on the screen of the oscilloscope. Dad hopes Kai will become an engineer or scientist. We will see.
Today is Children’s Day. We wish him health and a lot of happiness. Learn to appreciate and enjoy all the sweetness and bitterness in life, contribute to the world in his own unique way.
