Dirk and I were at the cosmetic department in Sogo, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. I was trying out some blush and eye shadow colours. Dirk looked at the prices and said: “My sister likes to buy colours from DIY home improvement hardware stores. There you can get the red colours in 10kg or 20kg buckets for 5 euros or so….”
Another day we were walking in a commercial street near the West Lake in Hangzhou. There was a piece of carved and polished white jade in a window, the price had 5 or 6 digits, I forgot. Dirk saw it and said to me: “I never knew a soap can be that expensive….”
