Here are two features I hope for the Nikon D400:
1. HDR sensor. In November 2006 I saw HDR CMOS sensors were exhibited in the Vision Messe 2006, Stuttgart. Currently the targeted clients are not consumers but I hope the consumer market will adopt this kind of sensors in the near future. HDR images have been around for a while but they are all post-processed by software on workstations and normally require more than one shot for each HDR result. The mighty new HDR sensors work much like human’s eyes.
2. Integrated GPS receivers. A digital camera doesn’t need to be a navigation system. All I want is just a simple GPS receiver which can record the geographical information of each shot in the EXIF data. The very short raw number can be later mapped using any computer and relevant web service.
